Ghanaian gospel musician Broda Sammy is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, affectionately known as Auntie Kokwaa.
The 80-year-old passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at around 2:00 a.m. at Bremang in Kumasi, located in the Ashanti Region. Her death comes after a prolonged battle with illness.
Broda Sammy, who is the only child of the late Auntie Kokwaa, confirmed the sad news in an exclusive interview with The Spectator.
“This is a very difficult time for me and my family,” he shared emotionally. “She was everything to me.”
He further revealed that the family is expected to meet later today to deliberate on funeral and burial arrangements. Details of these plans, he noted, will be made public after the meeting.
Fans and well-wishers have already begun expressing their condolences on social media, standing with the gospel artist in his time of grief.
