The Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency and former Minister of Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its numerous development initiatives and social intervention programmes, describing them as transformational for the country.
Speaking in an interview with the media in Kumasi, Dr Adutwum lauded the government’s achievements in various sectors, especially infrastructure, education, health, and social welfare. According to him, the impact of these interventions is being felt across the nation and has brought significant relief to the ordinary Ghanaian.
“The NPP government, under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has implemented bold policies and programmes that have improved the lives of many Ghanaians. From education to healthcare and infrastructure, the development is visible and worth commending,” Dr Adutwum stated.
He also called on party supporters to focus on promoting the successes of the NPP, rather than dwelling on issues that contributed to the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections. He encouraged the grassroots and communicators of the party to remain committed and spread the positive impact of the government’s policies.
“We must preach the good work of the party. That is the only way we can win back the trust of the people. Talking about our challenges without highlighting our achievements will not help us,” he advised.
On the issue of his intention to contest for the NPP flagbearer position, Dr Adutwum disclosed that he is currently consulting key stakeholders before making a final decision.
“I am in consultation with party members, founding members, traditional leaders, the clergy, and other important stakeholders. At the right time, I will announce my decision,” he revealed.
Dr Adutwum has gained widespread admiration for his contributions to education during his time as Minister. His leadership saw the expansion of the Free SHS programme and the introduction of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives across the country.
Many Ghanaians view him as a humble and visionary leader with the potential to lead the country into a new era of development, with some already endorsing him as a suitable candidate for the NPP’s 2028 presidential ticket.
