In a significant health initiative aimed at supporting Junior and Senior High School students, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, has announced a series of community health events scheduled to run from Tuesday, October 15 to Sunday, October 20, 2023.
The initiative will address pressing health issues such as malaria, menstrual hygiene, and general well-being through the distribution of treated mosquito nets, sanitary pads, and health screening services.
Starting each day at 8 AM, the program will be held in different locations across the Amenfi Central constituency, including Amuni, Kwamang, Ayiem, Kwakuboa, Agona Amenfi and Ajakaa Manso. During this week-long event, the NDC Parliamentary candidate will distribute 10,000 treated mosquito nets to combat malaria, a disease that continues to be a significant health threat in the constituency, especially among young people.
This effort reflects her commitment to ensuring that students are provided with the necessary tools to protect their health and well-being.
In addition to mosquito nets, Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe will also provide 10,000 sanitary pads, recognizing the importance of menstrual hygiene management for female students.
This critical aspect of health care often goes overlooked, and Hon Cudjoe aims to alleviate the challenges faced by young women during their menstrual cycles, allowing them to attend school without disruptions.
The initiative will also include comprehensive health services, such as breast cancer screenings, laboratory tests, drug distribution, ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) services, and blood tests. By offering these services free of charge, the NDC PC hopes to enhance health awareness and encourage early detection of diseases among students.
