Mr. Kwame Baffoe Abronye popularly known as Chairman Abronye, who is the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) regional Chairman for the Bono East Region, has called for the resignation of Kissi Agyabeng the Special Prosecutor (SP), stating that he is biased.
According to him, Kissi Agyabeng’s claims against Colonel Kwadwo Damoah the Commissioner of the Custom division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is mere hatred.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro he said, ‘’the SP appointed the former East Legon Police commander, Emmanuel Basintale as his investigator, meanwhile he was his client who allegedly defrauded Green Global Resources Company Limited of GH¢1.3 million under the pretext of selling 13 gold bars to the company. He and his allies sold gold bars to prospective buyers, only to return and arrest the buyers after payment has been made. So, whose office is the influence of peddling happening”?
”Kissi Agyabeng is not clean- he should resign. He requested Colonel to release Elikplim Akurugu for his office so he works with him and he refused. He claims his office is A-Political, meanwhile Elikplim’s wife Fausina Elikplim Akurugu contested with Adwoa Safo at Dome Kwabenya Constituency during the 2020 election. This clearly shows the guy is an NDC boy. You said your office is not political but you meddle with people who are politically affiliated”, Abronye added.
He further said that those who claim they are anti-corruption crusaders are the corrupt once.
The SP released a report on 3rd August, 2022 that faulted the Deputy Commissioner of Customs in charge of Operations, Joseph Adu Kyei for issuing an unlawful custom which reduced frozen foods which was imported by Labianca Limited which reduced the tax the said company paid to the state.
