Watch: Abronye And Kwaku Boahen Rain Insult On Each Other On Live TV

A conversation on the invitation by the Minority caucus in Parliament to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to participate in the parliamentary debate on the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review turned into personal attacks as the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye, and Kwaku Boahen, a former Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), lost their cool on live television.

The Thursday, July 25, 2024, edition of UTV’s morning show became the platform where Kwaku Boahen and Abronye traded insults while discussing national issues.

It all started when Kwaku Boahen, in his commentary on the topic, used a Twi word deemed to be denigrating to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“The NDC is focused on the elections, and I want to commend the Minority MPs who have challenged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to come to Parliament and participate in the debate on the Mid-Year Budget Review since he so much craves for one. After all, when Ken Ofori-Atta was the Finance Minister, he used to follow him every year for the budget presentation,” he said.

A Twi terminology used by Kwaku Boahen in advancing his viewpoint did not sit well with the host, who urged him to retract and apologize to the Vice President.
While the discussion between Kwaku Boahen and the host was ongoing, Abronye, the other panelist on the show, interjected and called Kwaku Boahen a “junky” and “semi-illiterate.”

“You are a junky. Such a junky should not be making such statements against the Vice President. He must withdraw and apologize for making such statements against the Vice President because I cannot say the same about the former president. Don’t allow any junky to insult anybody. You are a semi-illiterate,” Abronye said.

Kwaku Boahen, who initially resisted the urge to trade words with Abronye, eventually responded.

“I am civilized and well-groomed, so I won’t respond. There is an adage that when you are bathing and a mentally challenged man comes to remove your towel, you don’t run after him naked, so I won’t use the same words. You didn’t even pass your exam. Do you even have an SHS certificate?” he quizzed.

Tempers, however, cooled following repeated interventions by the host of the show.
