Trade and Industry Minister, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has been key to the implementation of Government’s flagship industrialization programme – the one district one factory policy – a policy that has even become more important as the country battles economic crises and has had to seek a bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has resigned.
Mr. Kyeremanten reportedly tendered his resignation to President last night after a Cabinet meeting according to sources available to this portal. The President is said to have accepted his resignation verbally
Mr. Kyeremanten’s resignation is to allow him to fully concentrate on his quest to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer and seek to actualize his ambition of becoming President of the country.
His resignation comes in the wake of calls for President Akufo-Addo to fire Ministers in his government eyeing to lead the NPP as flagbearer who have refused to resign.
Mr. Kyeremanten is one of the three main contenders in the race alongside Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong who is the Member of Parliament for Assin Central
The presidency is yet to however comment on the matter according to a reliable sources
