Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey was on target for Arsenal in their resounding 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the opening fixture of match-week 8 of the 2022/23 English Premier League.
The 29 year old just made an injury return and was included in manager Mikel Arteta’s starting line up but was subsequently substituted for Emerson Royal on the 73rd minute.
The mercurial midfielder broke the deadlock of the game on the 20th minute with a beautiful curler from outside the box after a nice team build up.
Harry Kane levelled the score eleven minutes after from a spot-kick before second half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka sealed the precious victory for the Gunners.
Watch the goal below:
Tottenham Hotspur ended the game with ten men following Emerson Royal’s second phase sent off after a nasty challenge on Gabriel Martinelli on the 62nd minute.
The win means Arsenal will continue to lead the Premier League with 21 points, four points adrift second-placed Manchester City- who takes on rivals Manchester United on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.
Thomas Partey after honouring Ghana’s call up just recently, missed out on friendlies against giants Brazil and Nicaragua due to a knock but is fully fit and is looking forward to have more minutes before the commencement of the World Cup, slated for November this year.

Thomas Partey and William Saliba aren’t just the kind of players who win you games – they’re the kind of players who win you titles. If we keep adding quality to this squad we will be a force. Meanwhile, Spurs are just a Rory Delap away from being 2012 Stoke City.

“Yeah fair play Thomas Partey was good today, but you can’t sit there and tell me the Ghanaian FA won’t be checking into the ancestry of Oliver Skipp to try and improve on him.” pic.twitter.com/ScitiC5I6J

Thomas Partey chose Nigeria’s Independence Day to score another long range goal just to remind them of the pain from six months ago 😭
