The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akyemansa in the Eastern Region, Hon. Linda Ahenkorah, emphasized that the National Day of Prayer is a solemn occasion to return to God’s principles, rekindle fear of God, and rebuild the nation’s moral backbone.
Speaking at the Akyemansa District National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day celebration held on July 1, 2025, at The Church of Pentecost auditorium and District Central mosques in Ofoase, she noted that the day should not be about theatrics or photo opportunities but a moment of resolve.

Under the theme “Reflect, Reset, and Renewal for National Prosperity,” Hon. Ahenkorah stressed that achieving national prosperity requires more than just slogans or wishful thinking. Instead, it demands individual commitment to doing what is right, even when no one is watching.
She urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to reset their time management, character, and mindset to promote national development.
The DCE emphasized that transforming the nation is a collective responsibility, not just the duty of the President.
She encouraged Ghanaians to draw from their history to foster unity, justice, and sustainable development.
Hon. Ahenkorah expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for introducing the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.
In addition to her remarks on national development, Hon. Ahenkorah warned the youth about the dangers of illicit drugs, particularly a substance known as “Red”.
She urged them to desist from using such substances, cautioning that the security task force in the assembly will launch an operation to arrest those engaging in drugs.
This warning comes on the heels of the Youth Development Ministry’s recent launch of the “Ghana Against Drugs” campaign, which aims to combat substance abuse among youth, specifically targeting the misuse of opioids and the substance known as “Red”.
Rev. Francis Kofi Gyimah, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches in the Akyemansa district, preached about the importance of unity in driving national development.

Using Nehemiah as a case study, he urged citizens to prioritize the country’s interests and put aside differences in tribe, religion, class, or political affiliation.
Meanwhile, the Akyemansa District Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Mashedi, called on the government to make the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving an annual event, rather than a one-time celebration.
He emphasized the significance of this occasion in promoting national unity and development.
