The former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has stated that, there is nothing wrong for some party supporters to organised a Health walk for the Trade and Industry Minister and also one of the flag bearer hopefuls, Alan Kyeremanteng.
He also stated categorically that no person in the New Patriotic Party can beat the vice president Dr. Bawumia in the coming NPP presidential candidate elections.
“it doesn’t matter what Alan supporters will do, Dr. Bawumia will lead NPP in the coming 2024 general election.
The former Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen, has said he is the driver of the Mamprusi bus, in reference to his support for Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, one of the flag bearer hopefuls.
“I’m driving the bus all the way to the North East Region, the hometown of the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia”
“In my life, as a politician, and in the history of the party, all the flag bearers I have supported won”, he said.
“I supported the late Prof. Adu Boahen, J.A. Kufuor, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; they all won to become flag bearers on the ticket of the party”, he said.
“So will Dr Mahamadu Bawumia also win the slot to lead the party for the 2024 general elections”, he noted.
“I have supported candidates who won the party’s slot of the party and never won the general elections but came back and worked hard and won”.
According to him, there will be a lot of groups supporting each candidate because their polls are drawing closer.
He stated that, the fact that, Former MP of Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, Hopeson Adorye has declared his support for Alan Kyeremanteng does not call for insult from the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
He added that, the party needs unity to achieve their agenda in 2024 election and also remember what disunity did to the party some years ago.
Meanwhile, the former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Gifty Klenam also indicated that, the Health walk was not purposely organised for Alan Kyeremanteng but for the party as a whole.
She added that, there is nothing wrong with Hopeson Adorye’s statement and it has nothing to do with Alan Kyeremanteng, therefore the party members should stop attacking the trade minister.
