Two people are reported dead in a fire outbreak leaving one in critical condition at Akanyakurom a suburb of Bui in the Banda District of the Bono Region, Assembly Member of the area Hon Amos Gbokye Kokoti has confirmed to Kumasi-based Angel FM.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at about 8:30 pm when the three were fast asleep in their house, reports suggest
The deceased are Dorothy Amerinyo, a 23-year-old seamstress apprentice and Fredrick Jobo, a 24-year-old level 200 Electrical Engineering student at Sunyani Technical University.
The third victim Margret in his 20s is also reported to have suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Investigation into the cause of the incident has already begun but ADO Otu Abraham, the Fire Service Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Bui Power Authority reveals it was fuelled by flammable materials kept in the kitchen where the fire razed.
Speaking to the media, ADO Otu Abraham confirmed the incident and said the GNFS will have to do due diligence in their investigations to avoid incorrect results.
“This is the first time the Akanyakurom has recorded a fire incident”, ADO Atu Abraham said
